About

April Seraphine, MA, CCC-SLP
Owner & Speech-Language Pathologist

April’s career is a dynamic blend of specialized training, intellectual curiosity, and a whole lot of advocacy. Early on, she trained in swallowing assessments such as Beckman Oral Protocol for both adults and children and received additional formal education on the flexible endoscope of the swallow (FEES) with Susan Langmore as the instructor — the creator of FEES. Continuing her commitment to lifelong learning, April recently completed over 25 credit hours with the American Hippotherapy Association. She now incorporates equine‑assisted movement as a powerful therapeutic tool at Hope Therapy. She is currently working toward completing AHA Part II, with the goal of earning additional specialization credentials by the end of 2027.

In the school system April worked extensively with students with moderate-profound complex speech and language needs. It was in this setting that she developed a passion for supporting Level 2 and Level 3 autistic students by building up their communication skills, thus reducing challenging, and at times violent, behaviors. With her love of pattern recognition and problem‑solving, April is known for offering creative, "out‑of‑the‑box” solutions for complex issues. Her dedication to accessibility led her to advocate for over 30 AAC trial devices in a single year, crafting detailed, data-driven justifications that empowered her district to better serve its students.

April’s professional experience spans the entire lifespan and a wide range of clinical environments. She has managed Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), served as a therapist liaison to bridge communication between families and care teams, and provided on-site therapy for adults with complex psychiatric conditions. Her work with veterans in skilled nursing facilities—both locally and as a traveling therapist—reflects her adaptability and compassion.

Her clinical expertise extends to pediatric and adult populations in Hawaii, where she served as a traveling therapist on the island of Oahu. April brings specialized knowledge in voice, respiration, and fluency disorders, and is equally skilled in supporting children and adults. She is also adept at implementing environmental supports for individuals with dementia, enhancing their quality of life through personalized, evidence-based strategies.

Whether educating families during IEP meetings or counseling geriatric patients in rehabilitation settings, April’s work is grounded in empathy, innovation, and a deep respect for the individuals she serves.
